Harambee Stars players test positive for Covid before Togo clash

Four Harambee Stars players reportedly tested positive for Covid before the game with Togo and were left out of the matchday squad.

The players, Michael Olunga, Joash Onyango, Ian Otieno and Lawrence Juma who were considered the main players in the team were reportedly not able to join the team in the stadium.

It is not yet known whether the results are genuine or it is a tactic by the Togo federation but Ghost decided to go with a totatally altered side for the clash with only Masud, Abdallah Hassan, Erick Ouma and Daniel Sakari maintaining their starting positions from the previous match.

The pandemic has seen a lot of teams this season face challenges when travelling to other countries with some federations being accused of faking opponents Covid results to prevent key players from playing.

In Kenya’s case, we may have to wait and see what subsequent tests result in.
